Cats and Dogs: Differences

Cats and dogs are very popular pets. I know how it feels to really want something, for example, a pet. Although we might just want to run to the pet store or rescue center and get a cat or dog, we must think very carefully about getting any kind of pet. We have to be ready to accept it as a family member, not a temporary toy. We also must be ready with the tools and products the animal needs to survive in our homes. Today I want to tell you some things that you need to know before getting a pet dog or a pet cat. 

 

 

 

First of all I want to tell you about a cat or dog's needs. Cats and dogs both need specific foods, such as dog food and cat food.  They can also both eat meat. Cats require less food than dogs do. Adult cats should eat 250 - 300 calories of food a day. Most dogs need 25 - 30 calories per pound per day. Cats need less grooming and baths than dogs. Long-haired cats need frequent grooming. A dog must be groomed at least once a month. If your dog is hypoallergenic, then you should have their fur cut 1-3 times a year.  Cats also can sleep 16 hours a day. But 50% of cats can be energetic and healthy during the day time. Dogs need to be walked 3 times a day, and likes playing. Most dogs like to be right next to their owner.                                                                                                       

 

Next I want to inform you about the spaces cats and dogs are okay with. Cats like small spaces and don’t mind apartments. Also, cats do not mind some alone time. They are solitary animals. Dogs, on the other hand, are okay with apartments if you train them right. They like to run around outside. They need some time outside, to run and play and breathe the fresh air. They do not like being alone, and would much rather be playing with their owner than sitting alone in their apartment, doing nothing and waiting. In the wild, they live in packs, so it will see its owner as a very important part of their ‘pack’. So, keep in mind that it will wait for you at the door.

 

Lastly I would like to let you know a few things about a cat and dog’s attitude. Cats like to be the king and think that they are the god. Dogs, on the other hand, worship humans that feed them, protect them, clothe them, and shelter them. They think that humans are gods. As they all say: 

Cats: “Humans feed me, protect me, clothe me, and shelter me. I must be a god to them.”

Dogs: “Humans feed me, protect me, clothe me, and shelter me. They must be gods.

Keep this in mind, as this will affect your decision to get a cat or a dog, Or to get neither!

 

To sum it up, There are many differences between cats and dogs. But no matter what, the main thing will always stay the same: Dogs and cats are both living creatures. They both need care and love.
